Question 20 -When will Death be Swallowed in Victory?  

Referring to the time Jesus comes to take the saved to Heaven, Paul prophesied, "then  shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, 'Death is swallowed up in victory.' "  Nowhere in Scripture is there a hint that death will be swallowed up in victory at any other time. Pre-Trib declares that righteous people will continue dying for an additional 7 years after Jesus comes. Pre-Trib also says that during the thousand years after the Tribulation,  righteous persons continue to be subject to death. They say the earth will be filled with mortals for 1007 years after Jesus comes, during which time righteous people will continue dying. Does Paul's prophecy mean that Pre-Trib needs to re-think their whole end-time Eschatology? First let's look at the context of Paul's prophecy. Referring to Christ's coming, Paul wrote, "We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump" (1Cor.15:51-52). This is a key Scripture Pre-Trib uses to defend their Rapture Theory. Paul describes what will happen at that time: "THEN (when Jesus takes His people to Heaven) shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is Swallowed up in Victory" (Vs.54). Let's list some things that cannot happen then:

Things that CANNOT Happen when "Death is Swallowed Up" 
1. There CANNOT be a Second Coming 7 years after this event because Paul said no more righteous people die.
2. The Tribulation CANNOT occur afterwards because many saved people will die during the Tribulation.
3. Antichrist CANNOT do his work after this event because he'll be responsible for much death till Jesus comes and stops him. 
4. There CANNOT be an Earthly Millennial Kingdom occupied with Mortals for a thousand years because mortality means, "Subject to death."
5. If, "Death is swallowed up in victory," Old Testament believers CANNOT wait seven more years after this event to have their deaths swallowed up in victory.

 This saying, "Death is Swallowed up in Victory," must be incorporated into our view of Jesus coming to take His people to the place He has prepared for them.


Righteous People Dying (Beheaded) During Tribulation 
John prophesied that there will be righteous people, "Beheaded," for resisting Antichrist during the Tribulation (See Rev.20:4), and that these, "Beheaded," people will be raised in the, "First Resurrection." But, Pre-Trib says the First Resurrection occurs before Antichrist will be allowed to work, and before the Tribulation. We want to be kind and respectful, but John wrote this under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. There's more. John prophesied that those, "Beheaded for not worshiping the Beast or receiving his Mark," will become, "Priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years" (see Rev.20:4-6). If the Reader is a Pre-Trib Pastor, you see the problem for Pre-Trib. Pre-Trib says the Priests in Ezekiel's Temple vision will be mortal Jews, from the Tribe of Levi, and descendants of Zadok the Priest. Some Pre-Trib promoters, however, claim that the Millennial Priests could be those who were resurrected. However, Ezekiel's vision of a Temple clearly says those priests will be mortals. Old Testament Saint's Resurrection
If the event Paul prophesied about, "Death being swallowed up in Victory," how can Old Testament saved people wait another 7 years before their "Deaths are Swallowed up in Victory?" If the Reader is not familiar with Pre-Trib's view concerning this, Pre-Trib says only, "Grace Age" believers will be resurrected at this event Paul describes. Pre-Trib says "Grace Age" people are only those living during the time after Jesus dies up through till the Rapture. Pre-Trib says that Old Testament saved people will not be resurrected until seven years later, at Christ's Second Coming. If the Reader is a Pre-Trib Pastor, you are aware of Pre-Trib's position. The problem for Pre-Trib is that Paul is quoting an Old Testament prophecy recorded in Hosea, and the context of Hosea's prophecy is directed specifically at Israel. "I will redeem them (Israel) from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death. 'O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction" (Hosea 13:14). Hosea's wording is somewhat different from Paul's, but Paul is referring to Hosea's prophecy. So let's be sure we see clearly that Paul prophesied about the time Jesus will come to take His people to Heaven. The resurrection Paul describes will actually be a fulfillment of an Old Testament prophecy made specifically to Israel. Is it not clear that, "Death swallowed up in victory," happens only once, and it is when Jesus comes to take His people to Heaven?  Conclusion
In light of all that we can learn from Paul's prophecy concerning, "Death swallowed up in victory," we must conclude that there cannot and will not be any righteous people die or be resurrected after Jesus comes to take His people to Heaven; to the "place He has prepared for them" (Jn.14:1-3).  All death for all saved people will be forever finished and all saved people will be alive forever and ever. There cannot be seven more years of Saints killed at the hand of Antichrist. Every trace of death will be forever vanquished for God's people!! When God says, "Death is swallowed up in Victory," every righteous person from planet earth will be on the way to Heaven to the, "Mansions He has prepared for them" (Jn.14:1-3).
